KNIGHTS END SKID WITH WIN AGAINST SISKIYOUS 9-7

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's baseball team snapped its nine-game losing streak with a 9-7 home win over College of the Siskiyous on Thursday but the Knights lost two of the three in the Golden Valley Conference series the rest of the weekend 12-3 and 10-9.

Payton Edwards, Easton Waterman and Daniel Duarte are the only Knights who hit safely in every game and each of them recording four hits.

Shasta 9, Siskiyous 7
The Knights trailed 7-0 in the fifth until Duarte's grand slam put them back in the game. Shasta would get an RBI single from Waterman and a go-ahead three-run homer from Edwards in the sixth to pull out the win.

Duarte was 2 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs, Waterman was 2 for 3 with am RBI and two runs, Edwards was 1 for 5 with three RBIs and a run, Cody Morrison was 2 for 3 with two runs and Mason Wood scored twice.

Jack Stemm got the win in relief, tossing 3.2 innings and allowing two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Cameron Falcon got the save, throwing three hitless innings to close it out.

Siskiyous 12, Shasta 3
Shasta scored once in each of the first three innings but gave up seven runs in the ninth inning for Siskiyous to pull away. Max Holtzclaw got the loss, giving up nine runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and two walks in eight innings.

Waterman was 1 for 4 with a double and a run, Duarte was 1 for 4 with an RBI, Morrison was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

Siskiyous 10, Shasta 9
The Knights opened things up with a four-run first inning and led 9-4 in the sixth inning before allowing five unanswered runs to end it.

Zac Billingsley gave up six runs on five hits and walked two in 1.2 innings of relief to take the loss. Waterman was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run, Edwards was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs, Jakob Weiser was 3 for 5 with two doubles and three RBIs and Morrison was 1 for 4 with an RBI and two runs.

Shasta plays at Lassen on Thursday and hosts the Cougars for a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
